Timahoe Learning Center at Ikih Elementary

At Timahoe Elementary in Ikih, Sulu, parents continue the construction of new classroom tables and chairs for young students. Like many schools in Sulu, the leadership of school heads and the Parent-Teacher Association is helping increase attendance in Kindergarten and 1st grade, where a child’s thirst for learning is first developed. AAI supports these school families through modest and transparent contributions for gardens, lunches, and school supplies.

These efforts are helping create classrooms where children can sit, learn, write, and participate with greater comfort and dignity. In communities where resources are limited, even basic furniture can make a meaningful difference in a child’s daily learning experience. Each table and chair built by parents represents a direct investment in the future of their children and in the strength of the school community.

The partnership between parents, teachers, school leaders, and AAI shows how local commitment can create lasting progress. When families are involved in rebuilding and improving their schools, children see that their education matters. Through shared work, practical support, and consistent care, these communities are helping young learners stay in school, grow in confidence, and build the foundation for a better future.
